Roguelike shoot 'em up set in space

Asterogues is a free action game made by an indie developer who goes by the name pipotchi. It's a top-down shoot 'em up featuring roguelike elements. In it, the players are a group of exiles banished to the edge of the Asteroid Belt, looking to get revenge on their oppressors.

Just like Enter the Gungeon or Archvale, Asterouges' demo serves up a good challenge through its bullet-hell combat. Players will face dangerous odds, and they will need to overcome every challenge they face to get a chance at getting their revenge and take the fight to the entire solar system.

Against the entire solar system

In Asterogues you are part of a group of outcasts exiled by the Sun to spend the rest of your days in the Asteroid Belt. Not one to take things lying down, you rebel and plan an attack to get revenge on the entire solar system. Thus, begins a perilous mission to get justice for yourselves and to regain some semblance of pride and honor.

Each character in the game has their own agenda and reason that drives them. Utilize their unique abilities as you will get a glimpse into their backstory as you control them. There are eight planets in the solar system, and you will need to take them all out to succeed in your rebellion. They all host a unique and diverse set of enemies that require different ways to defeat.

What's more, you'll get to find dozens of active and passive items that you can combine and synergize to provide bonuses and perks to increase your battle potential even further. As mentioned earlier, this is just a demo since the game is still in active development. An early 2023 window is being eyed for its release, which hopefully, comes right on schedule.

Fury of a thousand suns

If you're a fan of action shoot 'em ups, then Asterogues is yet another great option to consider. It combines bullet-hell gameplay with roguelike mechanics to offer a challenging and engaging experience. Combat is solid, the story is intriguing, and the various characters and items available allow for all kinds of combinations and play styles. Keep this on your radar when it officially releases.
